The world of kindergarten is a busy and happy
place filled with many interesting, hands-on experiences. Children thrive in an
environment that encourages and celebrates lifelong learning.
Kindergarten Objectives:
*We believe children are valuable & unique
individuals, capable of learning.
*We believe children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually
with individual patterns of growth.
*We believe children learn best when home, school, and community work as a team.
Math and reading are daily activities in
the kindergarten classroom. Children are given many hands-on opportunities to count,
collect and compare data, weigh and measure items, find number sets and graph data.
These activities help build an understanding of the mathematical concepts used in
kindergarten. Math lessons are designed to make math concepts relevant to every
day life experiences; hands-on activities help the kindergarten child see himself
or herself as a successful problem solver.
Through listening, speaking, writing, and
working with letters and sounds, the kindergarten child develops reading readiness
skills. Shared reading and writing activities help children learn the skills necessary
for independent reading and writing. Students practice reading and writing skills
daily in learning centers. Kindergarten children are provided with many activities
that strengthen small muscle control and build skills needed for paper and pencil
tasks.
